CB Gater Elects To Transfer Out Of Maryland

A fourth Maryland player in the last 48 hours entered the transfer portal May 1. Senior cornerback Lavonte Gater said he’d be playing his final collegiate season outside of College Park, Md., May 1.

The 5-foot-10, 165-pounder from Palmer Park, Md., became a top reserve last season and figured to remain in a rotational role in 2022. He is the second cornerback to transfer out of Maryland in the last couple days, joining fellow senior Kenny Bennett.
