S/ATH Scruggs Talks Up Hometown Terps Offer

The second of Maryland’s two Jan. 4 offers at the local Spalding (Severn, Md.) school went to athlete Lavain Scruggs, who projects as a safety in college. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder previously had Temple, UMass, Buffalo and Liberty looks, so UMD represented his first power-five option.

“Honestly, it’s pretty exciting and cool to get the hometown offer,” said Scruggs, whose teammate Mansoor Delane also picked up a UMD verbal Jan. 4.
