Norview (Va.) hybrid defensive end Donovan Everette secured his first power-five offer from Maryland back in early February, and the DMV native had a chance to visit Maryland March 7. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder was last in College Park, Md., for a one-day camp last summer, and got a totally different vibe this time around.

“The first time I was at Maryland, in a camp setting, I wasn’t totally sure about the Terps, but it was completely different going up for a personal visit with an offer,” said Everette, who has one other look from William & Mary. “I loved it there, to be honest. I was like, ‘Wow, this is really impressive.’ All of the coaches just kept it real there and I loved everything I saw.”

Everette said he enjoyed touring around the campus, checking out the new facilities and learning about the soon-to-be-completed renovations.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God,’” Everette said. “I fell in love with what they’re doing there.”

The Norview product spent the majority of his visit with outside linebackers coach Brawley Evans. The Terps view Everette as a potential JACK in their 3-4 scheme.

“Coach Evans was telling me about how things worked at the school and with the football program,” Everette said. “I really like him, because he doesn’t say things like, ‘Your’e the only guy we’re recruiting' and things like that. He keeps it real. And he was also saying how you shouldn’t always base your college decision on coaches, because coaches can leave at any time. So I took those things with me. It was really good advice.”

Everette said he plans to return to College Park for a spring practice in order to get a better gauge of the defense. He’s excited to continue building a relationship with Evans and continue learning about the program.

Of course, Everette’s younger brother, 2022 corner Daylen Everette, joined Donovan on the visit. The 6-0, 180-pounder picked up a Maryland offer on campus, bringing his total to a half-dozen plus. A highly-coveted rising star, Daylen Everette has looks from LSU, Michigan, Pitt, South Carolina and Virginia, among others.

“It was really cool to see Daylen get the Maryland offer. I was glad to see him get that,” Donovan Everette said. “He loved it at Maryland too. But he’s got every offer out there and has a lot of schools to pick from. He’s keeping an open mind.”

Donovan Everette said the only other visit he’s taken so far was to Virginia in early March. He’s going to Pitt and ECU coming up, along with any other suitors that show solid interest. He said the Panthers and Pirates have been in touch; he’s also hearing from coaches at Wake Forest and Northwestern.
