DT Smith Realizes Dream, Pledges To Hometown Maryland

When Tre Smith (Mountain Ridge/Frostburg, Md.) was in middle school, growing up in high-school-football-mad Cumberland, Md., he and pretty much every other aspiring gridironer took notice of running back Ty Johnson. The former Fort Hill (Cumberland, Md.) star achieved something akin to celebrity status in Western Maryland, to the point where even rival schools respected his game. Johnson, of course, would go on to play for Maryland and is now in the backfield for the Detroit Lions.
