COLLEGE PARK, Md. — There was a sequence during Maryland’s bout against Rutgers March 3 when senior Anthony Cowan, following a frustrating turnover, stared down at the floor and jogged back defensively. The Scarlet Knights ended up beelining right by Cowan, and the rest of the Maryland defenders, for an easy transition bucket. RU would go on to defeat UMD, 78-67, handing Maryland (24-7, 14-6 Big Ten) one of its most demoralizing defeats of the season and its third in four games.
