Terps Have Turned It On Of Late, But Road Tests Lie Ahead

January 8, 2020

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — There were plenty of encouraging facets surrounding Maryland’s (13-2, 3-1 Big Ten) 67-55 victory against No. 11 Ohio State Jan. 7 at Xfinity Center, but at the forefront was the play of sophomore forward Jalen Smith. The 6-foot-10, 230-pound Baltimore native has drawn his share of criticism for a supposed aversion to contact and spending too many minutes hovering around the perimeter, but Smith has transformed his game since Big Ten play resumed.

After muscling up for 19 points and eight rebounds against Indiana, Smith followed up with perhaps his most impressive all-around effort of the season considering the opponent.
