COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Maryland (10-0) coach Mark Turgeon could only shake his head as his team tossed up 3-pointer after 3-pointer against Illinois’ sagging defense Dec. 7. It would be one thing, per the coach, if the Terps were actually hitting from the outside, but his team is 268th in all of college basketball, having converted at just over a 30-percent rate.
