COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Maryland coach Mark Turgeon had watched his team begin games inexplicably slow all year. Seven wins, sure, but the head-scratching starts, low-lighted by an utterly lethargic early effort in the Terps’ second-round Orlando Invitational bout against Harvard, had to be mitigated as competition heated up. The coach explained that his team looked ready — they were energetic in the locker room, in the lay-up line.
