New Leadership, Renewed Urgency For Maryland Heading Into Season's Latter Stages

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Aazaar Abdul-Rahim wants to simplify things. Maryland’s interim head coach, who took over for dismissed headman Mike Locksley Oct. 21, said in his initial pregame press conference that he wants to reduce football to its essentials, from schemes to play calls to overall team mentality.

Instead of shifting in and out of formations, he wants the team to excel at its base scheme.
