Observations From Maryland's Exhibition Victory Against West Virginia

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Maryland’s 90-81 overtime victory against West Virginia Oct. 18 offered reasons for optimism heading into the 2026-27 season, but also exposed some significant concerns.

The Terps overcame a 19-point deficit, including a 46-31 halftime hole, before outscoring the Mountaineers 15-6 in overtime. It was a particularly encouraging performance from returning standouts Pharrel Payne and Andre Mills, who combined for 53 points.
