Terps Bring Back Barnes As Special Teams Coordinator

Just a week after assistant Chili Davis left Maryland for the NFL, the Terps have a new special teams coordinator. Former Mississippi State co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Matt Barnes will take the job as UMD’s teams coordinator under Coach Mike Locksley.

Barnes is no stranger to College Park, Md., or the special teams role. In fact, he was previously UMD’s teams’ coordinator from 2016-2018 under Coach DJ Durkin.
