Taking a look at Maryland's 67-55 loss at UCLA Jan. 10:

Maryland’s Defense Was Carved Up Early, Locked In Late

Coach Buzz Williams kept imploring how it was better to deny 3-point shooters than it was to take away the paint, but that seemed like a convenient excuse for his team’s shoddy defensive play against Indiana and at times against Oregon. Fact is, the Terps were lackadaisical on the defensive end, regardless of what the coaches were emphasizing.
