DB Nelson Enters Transfer Portal

Maryland saw a seventh defensive back enter the transfer portal this offseason in redshirt freshman safety Tayvon Nelson. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder did not appear in a game during his two years in College Park, Md.

Nelson was a mid three-star recruit out of Canarsie (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the 2023 class. Former UMD corners’ coach and area recruiter Henry Baker anted up for Nelson in February of 2022, and Nelson reciprocated by visiting College Park, Md., shortly thereafter.
