CB Akins Enters Transfer Portal

A fifth Maryland defensive back entered the transfer portal Dec. 10 in redshirt freshman Jonathan Akins. The 5-foot-11, 177-pounder appeared in just two games in 2024, playing a total of 21 snaps. He graded out below average in coverage during that brief stint, per Pro Football Focus.

Akins played in one game as a freshman in 2023 and registered one tackle in the bowl against Auburn.

Akins was a mid-level three-star out of Madison County (Madison, Fla.) in the 2023 class.
