Surging Terps Primed For First High-Major Foe, Marquette
COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Last season, Maryland rarely used the press given the team’s lack of depth, an inability to consistently make shots, and the fact that Coach Kevin Willard didn’t want to wear down his best player, Jahmir Young, who already had to play some 35-plus minutes a night. The Terps still fared well defensively as they led the Big Ten in scoring defense, but the press was a signature of Willard’s first team at UMD, which went on an NCAA tournament run.
