After losing three straight games to end the regular season and falling below .500 overall, Maryland (16-16, 8-13 Big Ten) could have very easily packed it in during the first round of the Big Ten tournament in Minneapolis, Minn., March 13. But 12th-seeded UMD played inspired basketball from start to finish against a demoralized Rutgers squad and came away with a relatively easy 65-51 victory.
