Taking a look at Maryland’s 63-46 win against Rutgers Feb. 25:

Maryland’s Zone Gave Rutgers Fits

Rutgers has the worst shooting and 3-point shooting team in the Big Ten, and Maryland Coach Kevin Willard basically told his team to force the Scarlet Knights to beat them from the outside. By employing a 1-2-2 and 1-3-1 zone throughout much of the game, the Terps were able to take away the driving lanes and Rutgers’ frontcourt.
