S Williams Enters Transfer Portal

A 10th Maryland player entered the transfer portal Dec. 14 in safety Avantae Williams. The 6-foot, 197-pound junior played in just two games for the Terps and tallied three tackles.

Williams was projected as a starter after transferring to UMD from Miami before the 2023 season. But the Florida native’s work ethic and play came into question, and he was unable to ascend the depth chart.

Williams was a borderline five-star recruit out of Deland High (Fla.) in the 2020 class.
