McFarland Earning Respect For More Than Just Explosive Runs

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – When Maryland coach Mike Locksley first saw Anthony McFarland as a seventh grader at a Grassroots camp in the D.C. area, the then-assistant was immediately struck by the diminutive whirling dervish’s YouTube-worthy speed and elusiveness. Like Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl, McFarland ran roughshod over the middle-school competition, to the point where it was an achievement just to tackle him in the open field.
