Speedster CB Akins Pledges To Terps

Jonathan Akins (Madison County/Madison, Fla.) clocked a 10.7-second 100-meter dash in April, and a couple weeks later the 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback had his first major scholarship offer. Noted Florida-area recruiter Brian Williams heard about the fleet-footed Akins and elected to extend an offer from Maryland.

One month after securing the verbal, Akins opted to visit College Park, Md., for an official visit. And after a standout foray, he decided to commit before leaving campus.
