COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The Terps (3-0) didn’t exactly put together the performance they wanted Sept. 17 in Champaign, Ill., but the 20-17 victory proved something about this Maryland team. Coach Mike Locksley has said on more than one occasion he wanted to gauge how UMD would respond when it took an opponent’s punch. Illinois showed it was game during the primetime bout and delivered more than one punch, eventually pulling ahead by a touchdown late during regulation.
