And just like that Maryland’s unexpected five-game surge hit a brick wall. Following a 60-55 letdown at 13th-place Northwestern, there are questions whether UMD’s seemingly annual late-season swoon under coach Mark Turgeon will again come to fruition. The Terps (15-11, 9-10 Big Ten) are still seventh place in the conference and almost assuredly NCAA-tournament bound thanks to their five-game February streak, but they’ll have to prove March 3 in Evanston, Ill.
